STANDARD MENU FOR BREAKFAST AND MEALS IN MAIL/ EXPRESS TRAINS
All important trains have Pantry Car facilities to serve the passengers vegetarian and non-vegetarian breakfast, meals and other refreshments. Passengers can contact the train conductors/ coach attendants/ waiters or other authorised catering staff of railway to avail on board catering facilities. It is better to consult the menu and tariff cards displayed in or available at Restaurants/ Refreshment Rooms or Pantry Cars.
Standard Breakfast (Available in Casserole) Vegetarian: This includes following menus.
- Bread Butter & Cutlet: This menu includes Veg. Cutlets-2 nos 100 gram, 2 bread slices with 10 gram butter chiplet of total weight 70 gram and Tomoto Ketchup sachet & Salt/ Pepper 15 gram.
- Idli & Vada: This menu includes Idli (4 nos.) 200 gram, Urad Vada (4 nos.) 120 gram and Chutney (packaged separately) 50 gram
- Upma & Vada: This menu includes Upma 100 gram, Urad Vada (4 nos.) 120 gram and Chutney (packaged separately) 50 gram
- Pongal & Vada: This menu includes Pongal 200 gram, Urad Vada (4 nos.) 120 gram and Chutney (packaged separately) 50 gram
- Bread Butter & Cutlet -02 Veg. Cutlet (100 gm) + 02 bread slice+10gms butter chiplet + Totmato sauce - ₹30/-
- Idli & Vada -04 no. Idli (200 gm) + 04 no Urad Vada (120gm) + 50gms Chutney - ₹30/-
Rate for each of above menus is Rs. 25 (Static) and Rs. 30 (Mobile).

- Bread Butter & Omelette: This menu includes Veg. Omelette of 2 eggs 90 gram, 2 bread slices with 10 gram butter chiplet of total weight 70 gram and Tomato Ketchup sachet & Salt/ Pepper 15 gram.
- Omelette of 02 eggs + 02 bread slice + 10gms butter chiplet+ Totmato sauce - ₹35/-
Rate for above menu is Rs. 30 (Static) and Rs. 35 (Mobile).
Standard Meals (Available in Casserole) Vegetarian: This includes the following items.
- Rice Pulao or Jira Rice or plan Rice of fine quality: 150 gram
- Paratha (2 nos.) or Chapati (4 nos.) or Poories (5 nos.): 100 gram
- Dal or Sambhar ( Thick consistency): 150 gram
- Mixed Vegetable (seasonal): 100 gram
- Curd -100 gram or sweet: 40 gram
- Pickle in sachet: 15 gram
- Packaged drinking water in sealed glass: 250 ml.
Rate for above menus is Rs. 45 (Static) and Rs. 50 (Mobile).
Standard Meals (Available in Casserole) Non-Vegetarian: This includes the following items.
- Rice Pulao or Jira Rice or plain Rice of fine quality: 150 gram
- Paratha (2 nos.) or Cahapati (4 nos.) or Poories (5 nos.): 100 gram
- Dal or Sambhar (Thick consistency): 150 gram
- Two eggs curry: 200 gram
- Curd -100 gram or sweet: 40 gram
- Pickle in sachet: 15 gram
- Packaged drinking water in sealed glass: 250 ml.
Rate for above menu is Rs. 50 (Static) and Rs. 55 (Mobile).
Standard Thali Meals (Available only in Refreshment Rooms) Vegetarian: This includes the following items.
- Plain rice of fine quality: 150 gram
- Parathan (2 nos.) or Chapati (4 nos.) or Puris (5 nos.): 100 gram
- Dal or Sambhar: 150 gram
- Mix Vegetable (seasonal): 100 gram
- Vegetable curry (seasonal): 100 gram
- Curd – 100 gram Or Sweet: 40 gram
- Pickle in sachet -: 15 gram
Rate for above menu is Rs. 35 (Static).
Standard Thali Meals (Available only in Refreshment Rooms) Non-Vegetarian: This includes the following items.
- Plain rice of fine quality: 150 gram
- Paranthan (2 nos.) or Chapati (4 nos.) or Puris (5 nos.): 100 gram
- Dal or Sambhar (Thick Consistency): 150 gram
- Two egg curry: 200 gram
- Curd: 100 gram or Sweet: 40 gram
- Pickle in sachet: 15 gram
Rate for above menu is Rs. 40 (Static).
Janta Meal/ Economy Meal or Janta Khana: It is available only in Refreshment Rooms in quality disposable card board boxes which includes the following items.
- Poories – 7 nos. 175 gram
- Dry Patato curry 150 gram
- Pickle sachet 15 gram
Rate for above menu is Rs. 15 (Static) and Rs. 20 (Mobile).
Other Refreshment Items: These items are available only in Refreshment Rooms.
- Standard tea (150 ml) Disposal cups used should be of 170 ml capacity (Rs. 5-Static, Rs. 5-Mobile)
- Tea with tea bag (150 ml) Disposal cups used should be 170 ml capacity (Rs. 7-Static, Rs. 7-Mobile)
- Coffee with instant coffee powder (150 ml) Disposal cups used should be of 170 ml capacity (Rs. 7-Static, Rs. 7-Mobile)
- Tea in pot (285 ml) which includes 285 ml tea + 2 tea bags + 2 sugar pouch +2 disposable paper cups of 170 ml capacity (Rs. 10-Static, Rs. 10-Mobile)
- Coffee in pot (285 ml) which includes (285 ml coffee) + 2 coffee sachets + 2 sugar pouch + 2 disposable paper cups of 170 ml capacity (Rs. 15-Static, Rs. 15-Mobile)
- Packaged Drinking Water (Chilled) Rail Neer & other BIS approved shortlisted Packaged drinking water at the rate of 1000 ml (Rs. 15) and 500 ml (Rs. 10).
Following points may please be noted by the passengers.
- Tariff of all items is inclusive of service tax @ 8.66%
- Bilingual menu sticker is pasted in each coach wherein passenger may ascertain the menu and tariff for food served in trains.
- In addition to the above standard food and beverage items, different a-la-cart items with regional variation are also served for which price and menu are fixed by Zonal Railways.
- Passenger may insist on the service providers for issue of cash memos.
- Passengers may lodge their complaints/ suggestions to catering services monitoring cell (CSMC) functioning at Zonal Railways level and in Railway Board at a national toll free number 1800-111-321.
