Get Meal At Your Seat By IRCTC E-Catering


IRCTC has introduced e-catering services in more than 1500 trains which have no pantry car. Passengers can book hot, hygienic and fresh meal to be delivered at their seats through IRCTC's e-catering website www.ecatering.irctc.co.in, by calling phone numbers 1800-1034-139 (toll-free), 0120-4383892-99 (toll) or by sending SMS MEAL to 139. Meals can also be booked through mobile app, 'FOOD ON TRACK' which can be downloaded on Android/IOS phones. The food supplied to the passengers is prepared in house by IRCTC Departmental Fast Food Units and Food Plaza as well as private players in the food business like Domino's Pizza, KFC and Street Foods by Punjab Grill.

To book meal through website and SMS, a passenger should have valid confirmed train ticket of the train in which this service is available. The names of such trains can be found at the e-catering website of IRCTC. The process of booking meal through website is explained below.
  • Passenger is required to enter the valid PNR number. List of stations will appear in the drop down menu. Passenger has to choose the station at which meal is to be received. A screen will appear showing the available vendor menu along with item prices.
  • Passenger has to select the vendor and the meals to be booked.
  • Once booking is confirmed, make e-payment for the booked meal.
  • After completion of transaction, SMS and email will be sent to the customer as well as the service provider.
  • The SMS and email will contain the details of the order and an OTP (One Time Password) which will be used for verification at the time of delivery of meal.
  • Passenger will again receive a SMS 02 hours before the scheduled delivery time of the meal at the station.
Passengers having wait-listed as well as confirmed ticket can book meal by calling 1800-1034-139 (Toll-free), 0120-4383892-99 (Toll). The Booking process will be done by call centre executive and a confirmation message will be sent through SMS and email. The SMS sent to passenger will have an OTP which will be used for verification on the mobile application of delivery personnel at the time of delivery of meal. Passenger will again receive a SMS 02 hours before the scheduled delivery time of the meal at the station.


While booking meal through e-catering, following points may be kept in mind:
  • Passengers having wait-listed tickets can book meal in selected trains through phone and SMS only.
  • Partially confirmed tickets will be treated as confirmed tickets for booking meal.
  • Meal service is available between 06:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Food will be delivered between 06:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m only. If train reaches late beyond the service time at the meal delivery station, the delivery of the meal becomes uncertain. In case of non-delivery of meal, full refund will be made to the passenger after deducting bank charges.
  • Online payment is to be made for the orders placed through website. For orders placed through phone and SMS, payment has to be made in cash at the time of delivery.
  • The minimum acceptable order value is Rs. 60.
  • Orders may be cancelled 2 hours before the scheduled delivery of meal.

IRCTC Departmental Fast Food Units and Food Plaza Menu are available at various stations throughout the country. However, KFC and Street Foods by Punjab Grill menu are available only in New Delhi.
