IRCTC CAPTCHA PROBLEM AND ITS SOLUTION

TIPS AND TRICKS TO RECOGNISE IRCTC CAPTCHA CORRECTLY

Captcha is a combination of alphabets and numerals of irregular shapes and sizes intermingled with each other, making them difficult to recognise. These are part of security measures by Indian Railways so that automated booking of train tickets is discouraged.

Everyone faces problem while entering captcha characters for logging into IRCTC website to check seat availability and make railway ticket booking. The captcha characters become more difficult to decipher at the time of Tatkal ticket booking. Indian Railways has done this intentionally so that people standing in long queues at booking counters also have good chance to get Tatkal tickets.

There are thousands of internet users trying to make online railway ticket booking in parallel, i.e. at the same time from different computers. The people standing at the railway ticket booking counters are in series. Unless the person at 1st position in queue gets his ticket, the process of booking cannot be started for the person at 2nd position in queue. Hence this process is very slow as compared to the simultaneous booking by individual internet users at the same time. Introduction of captcha has made online booking of tickets slower as well.

To enter correct captcha for IRCTC login, please follow some of the points given below.

  • Make yourself familiar with some of the most difficult captchas coming at the start of AC Tatkal ticket booking at 10:00 a.m. and non-AC Tatkal booking at 11:00 a.m. As practice makes a man perfect, some of the captchas are given below for your training.

  • If you are not sure about the characters of the current captcha, don't take chances and immediately refresh to load the new captcha by clicking on circular arrow which is beside the captcha.
