Passengers can make various enquiries through 139 IVR (Interactive Voice Response) facility. To make these enquiries, dial 139 from any mobile or landline phone. The various rail enquiries which can be made are given below.

Destination Alert and Wake-up Alarm Through IVR 139


Indian Railways offers various services through IVR (Interactive Voice Response) 139.

Steps for activating Destination Alert through 139 IVR are given below.
  • Passenger has to dial 139 from the mobile through which destination alert is to be set.
  • Passenger has to choose his / her preferred language.
  • To set the destination alert, select option 7 from the IVR main menu and press 2.
  • Enter your 10 digit number.
  • Finally, press 1 to confirm your PNR number.
After this process, the passenger will receive a confirmation message on the mobile as "DESTINATION ALERT" call has been set on your mobile mentioning the name of the destination station.

The Destination Alert can also be set through Customer Service Executive. For this, dial to 139 through the mobile and convey your 10 digit PNR number and mobile number to the Customer Service Executive. Customer Service Executive will confirm that the destination alert has been set and you will also receive a confirmation message on your mobile.

Steps for activating Wake-up Alarm through 139 IVR are given below.
  • Passenger has to dial 139 from the mobile through which Wake-up Alarm is to be set.
  • Passenger has to choose his / her preferred language.
  • To set the Wake-up Alarm, select option 7 from the IVR main menu and press 1.
  • Enter your 10 digit number.
  • Now, press 1 to confirm your PNR number.
  • Finally, enter STD code of the place for which you want to activate the Wake-up Alarm. You can also contact IRCTC customer care executive by pressing (*).
After this process, the passenger will receive a confirmation message on the mobile as "WAKE-UP ALARM" call has been set on your mobile mentioning the name of the destination station.

The Wake-up Alarm can also be set through Customer Service Executive. For this, dial to 139 through the mobile and convey your 10 digit PNR number and mobile number to the Customer Service Executive. Customer Service Executive will confirm that the Wake-up Alarm has been set and you will also receive a confirmation message on your mobile.

Destination Alert Through SMS To 139


Passengers can also set Destination Alert by sending SMS to 139. You should send SMS in the following format from the mobile for which you want to activate the Destination Alert.

ALERT <PNR NUMBER>

After sending the SMS, the passenger will receive a confirmation message on the mobile as "DESTINATION ALERT" call has been set on your mobile mentioning the name of the destination station.

Charges Applicable:

Call Charges on 139: Rs. 1.20 for a pulse of 60 seconds for calls from Metro cities while for calls from non metro cities/areas the charges are Rs. 2 for a pulse of 60 seconds.
SMS Charges: SMS (Pull) cost is Rs. 3 per SMS.
